Jocole’s October Blog Tour: a Pencil & a Peplum

With five kids, a busy husband, and a very busy schedule most of the clothing items I have for myself are casual and for everyday wear. A few weeks ago I added a few new casual pieces to my closet for the Momiform Makeover. I had so much fun taking my wardrobe up a notch from screen printed tees to a beautiful knit pull over and a button-up shirt. I loved the fabrics, my new shirts, and how I felt in them.

Even though my everyday is a bit simple and casual, I do pamper myself and my appearance every Sunday when I dress up for Church. I love to dress up for church! I give myself the extra 20 minutes that I can’t find on a daily basis and it makes me feel pretty and ‘put together’.  Yet, just as I have had the same 8 screen print tees in my everyday line up, I have about 4 ‘church skirts’ that I rotate through. So, when I heard that Jocole was setting up an October Blog Tour, I jumped in. I really wanted a new skirt and the Pencil Skirt looked like a great option. I also wanted a new layering shirt for the coming Fall and so I added the Ladies Peplum Top to my To-Do List.

Jocole’s patterns have all the basics of a good PDF Pattern. There are cutting guides and a size chart, descriptions of the garment, tips & tricks, and a few extras links on ‘How to Measure Ladies’. I started with the Ladies Peplum Shirt. However, I did not have the guts (or perhaps I still feel like I have too much gut) to make the peplum. I wanted, and need layering tees for Fall and the base of this shirt fit that need. I simply widened and extended the side and bottom seams of the pattern to get what I wanted. I choose to use Art Gallery’s soft and rich knit in Deep Dark Ocean. I love this color! We have tons of new knits in our SHOP if this is not the color for you.

I use the rest of my stash of Painting Morale in knit by Art Gallery for the Ladies Knit Pencil Skirt. This is a very simple and fast pattern. The pieces lined up great, the instructions were clear, and the final skirt was a nice fit. I loved the fact that I was able to start the project Saturday night and had a new outfit to wear to Church Sunday morning! Jocole has many patterns to choose from and she has gathered a great bunch of bloggers to tease you with amazing outfits! So be sure to follow the October Blog Tour and see all that Jocole has to offer.
