I have always wanted to be able to design my own patterns for children’s clothing. As PDF Patterns became more popular, I began to believe that this might be a dream that I could achieve. So, in the spring of 2014, I decided it was time to prepare. I wanted to understand all the facets of designing a pattern and I knew that pattern testing would not only hone my skills but also be an invaluable lesson to me. I was right. Jessica DeWit of Gracious Threads was the first designer that I tested for. She was testing the Starfish Shorts and I thought that this would be a great place to start! No only did I learn a lot from testing with Jessica over the next few years, I also gained a friend! We would randomly talk about cows and kids, clothing, and stress. I was able to watch her develop her aesthetic and her business. She is a kind woman and a talented designer. She has created many patterns since we met and has also managed to create a beautiful new baby!
This month all metallic prints are on sale in our SHOP. When Jessica showed me one of her newest patterns, The Éclair Blouse, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it! I knew that I wanted to use the Eclair to create a something casual but beautiful for my daughter with it. I plan to use Michael Miller Glimmer Glitz Dots and Glitz Chevron for this look. I am so excited to use these metallic prints for a casual shirt pattern. I think that it will elevate it and make my daughter feel as beautiful as she is.You will have to come back next week to see the results and to get a sneak peek at Jessica’s
I am Thankful, Grateful, & Blessed for meeting Jessica!
