Blaverry’s Vivie – a Spring dress

If you did not read about what is sew-my-reality, with the last Blaverry pattern I accomplished, you should really take a minute to catch up! Thankfully Murphy packed his bags and moved on to the next seamstress (sorry but we all need to experience the good, the bad, and Murphy!) because this little beauty came together in a day of blissful sewing! This is the first of 5 Easter outfits for my kids. It is for my sweet middle lady who is still upset about having to give up her coat to her younger sister. BUT- she is in love with this dress and said she feels like an Easter Princess in it. Mommy win!!

The Vivie is a sweet button up collared dress. The instructions call for snaps and I love that! Buttons are great, but time consuming and I kinda have a love affair with pearled snaps. I choose to use less snaps than instructed because I liked the way it looked with this new fabric from Lewis & Irene called Pretty Flowers on Denim. All these sweet little flowers and the muted colors give the fabric a vintage feel that I adore! The fabric has a great drape that lends itself perfectly to the structured bodice and full skirt of Vivie.

One of the reasons I like the classic style lines of Vivie is because you change the feel of the dress by changing up the fabric that you chose. And it is no secret that we here at Phat Quarters have a thing for fabric!

You can have a fun vibrant summer dress like Karly’s from Paisley Roots.
A fresh clean and modern everyday dress like Christie’s -Miss Blaverry herself!

Or a sweet vintage country dress like mine. She is day-dreaming of spring flowers, warm weather, and bunnies in her new Vivie and it melts my heart to see her so happy! Have you started sewing for Easter or spring yet? We have tons of new prints in our shop to help inspire you and Blaverry has a ton of great patterns waiting for you!
