The Splendid Sampler: Lina’s Gift

I am back with my second completed block for the Splendid Sampler.  Since I jumped into the party after it already started, I have the opportunity to pick & choose which blocks to get working on first.

This week’s block was designed by Pat Sloan & I love the story that goes along with it.  Pat describes her friend, Lina, who inspired her from the beginning of her quilting journey.  Lina taught Pat about the loving nature of quilters.  She says, “Lina’s gift helped me appreciate quilters who put thousands of hours into a project and then give it with love to someone else.”  I can attest to this!  Quilters, and sewists in general, are some of the nicest, most generous people I’ve ever met.
Here is my block #18, Lina’s Gift:

I am enjoying playing with new fabrics from the Lavish collection by Katarina Roccella for Art Gallery Fabrics for these blocks.  The floral print in this block is one of my favorites from Lavish, Flowered Medley
I used Icy Mint Pure Elements for the basket pieces. The background print for this block is Triangle Gradient in Grapefruit from the Coraline collection by Camelot Fabrics.
The Art Gallery Fabrics SALE in our shop ENDS SATURDAY!  Be sure to snatch up your favorite prints (luscious knits included!)

I am enjoying seeing how others make each block their own. Are you participating in this mystery quilt bock sew-a-long?  We’d love to see your blocks – share in the comments below!
