Swirly Girl’s Hank & Clementine Fabric Blog Tour Day 3: Little Moo Designs Chic Kitchen

Hello again! I am so excited to show you a few of the little projects we created with Swirly Girls Designs “Hank & Clementine” fabrics from Michael Miller Fabrics! This fabric line is so much fun! You can read more about it on THIS POST. Today I am going to show off my new Granny Chic Kitchen Hanging Towel. I received the pattern from Little Moo Fabrics, one of the sponsors for this tour and the amazing giveaways (at the bottom of the post). With a growing family of seven a lot of time is spent in the kitchen!!! The apple print, Issac, made my heart do a twitter-patter! The apple print comes in four different colors; Coral, Citron, Gray & Mint. You are going to see a lot more of these prints on Friday when we share with a FREE PDF PATTERN made just for this tour.

So I used Issac in gray to create the top of my hanging towel. The directions in the pattern were super simple to follow and the whole project took maybe 15 minutes from start to finish for me. I did deviate slightly from the pattern in that it called for a snap closure. The problem was that I had dug around in my button box and found this sweet pink vintage inspire button and just had to use it! So I made a quick button hole and sewed this little guy on there! I might love it so much that I won’t actually let anyone use it! Anyone else every do that?

So we also played a little with making some mini quilts that were used in the background of our photos will be showing off on Friday. Traci whipped up this cute little springing number that I am dubbing Flowers & Thread. It makes me want to hand-stitch outside on a quilt under the warm sun while the birds chirp and the kids frolic in the tulips……and back to reality…… it is just above freezing out, there are no spring flowers yet and my children tromp more so than frolic, but you get the idea. I love how fabrics and patterns can make me day dream! I love that they evoke feelings and textures that wake me up from the everyday! Traci use the more ‘Issac’ in gray for the spools, ‘Kelly’ in both coral for the flower and sprout for the thread, ‘Ivy’ in sprout for the flower stem, and in coral for the accent piece and ‘Abigail’ in pink for the binding on this mini quilt. She also highlighted the sweet ‘Gloria’ in sprout bound with the ‘Ivy’ in citron for a second simple mini quilt that is under the hanging towel. These fabrics are just so much fun together!!!

Remember how I said we have a pattern for you on Friday? Well one of my favorite ways to use up all my fabric scraps is to make little buntings. I love hanging them around my house or on a friends door when they just need a little pick me up! They are super simple to make. I cut my fabric scraps to 4″x 3″ rectangles. I place two of them wrong sides together and top stitch them in what ever shape I am in the mood for. Theses I made like little boat flags. I use pinking shears to cut just outside of the stitch and then shove them (literally) into double fold bias tape, pin it and finally stitch the tape down with a straight stitch. Simple, fast, fun, and so stinking cute!!! I might just have to do this as a video in our Facebook Sewing community tomorrow…

The scraps that we had from all our projects were perfect for our mini buntings so we made a few…or about 7!

I am so excited to share these with my friends! Are they not just the cutest little things! That’s it for our projects today but there is still more for you on the tour today.
