Hi all! I am so sad that today is the last day of our Hank & Clementine Fabric Blog Tour!!! We have had so much fun with these prints designed by Swirly Girls Design for Michael Miller Fabrics! Today I get to show you my favorite prints from the line….the apples!!! The fabric is called Issac and it comes in 4 different colors; coral, citron, gray, mint. I can not pick a favorite! I love the retro feel of these colors and they just screamed dinner to me. Therefor I had to keep them in the kitchen forever. Michael Miller Fabrics sent me each color along with a few coordinating prints from the line and I turned them into the cutest aprons for my littles!
But first we don’t want you to forget about the other great stops on the tour today….
I just love how all through the week each of us have been using the same fabric line and yet have produce beautiful bags, women’s clothes, kids clothes, and quilts and they all look perfect made for this fabric line. They are all so different, so unique, and simply wonderful! I hope you take the time to revisit each stop and enter the giveaways (there are three!) so that you can create too!
So, let’s get back in the kitchen for a bit! We want to introduce you to the Jube Jube Apron for kids! This apron has 5 sizes to fit your littlest little up to your oldest, and possibly even you if your oldest now looks you in the eyes like mine do! It has a very simple base that is great for showing off your favorite fabrics…like these adorable little apples! Do you see how in each colorway there are one or two apples that pop because the color changes!?!!?!!! I just love that! I am all about the details!
There are also three different pocket options that you can create, which allows you to make this apron for the kitchen, or the classroom, or the playdough table, art board…anywhere you and your little want to create! My kids LOVE LOVE LOVE to cook- probably because they also love to eat (see how my little bug could hardly even wait to get through a few photos before he was digging into his yummy cupcake!), so broke these aprons in with a baking session.
We also wanted to keep the pattern simple so that the little men in your life will be as happy wearing it as will the little girls. And this brings me to another thing that I love about this line of fabric. When I first saw it I saw only the pink/coral colorway and I immediately thought my boys were out. Then Susan showed me the gray colorway and I fell in love! My boys were back in! I love the bright colors on them and how they could feel so cool in this amazing plaid. I love bright colors on kids and while the pinks and corals are generally seen on girls y;all know I love my boys to have a bit of pink in their lives and closet!
Because this fabric had such a fun retro vibes I really wanted to add lace and ruffles for my girls. I will post more detail images of how we added the trims to aprons to make them fit each girls personality in our Facebook group so come visit us there! I love how adding a ruffle under the Hip Pockets made the pattern sweet but not too girl for my tweens. The lace added to the Kangaroo pocket on my youngest daughter made the tiny flowers in the Gloria fabric feel delicate & classic. I am so glad that the Hank & Clementine fabrics were the inspiration behind these aprons! Aprons are a great fun & easy project that all sewist can create and when you use the right fabrics (like these) you get a happy kitchen & happy kids -what is better than that!!!!
